Gift ideas for Veterans – Ways to say Thank You!

Knowing I am a Veteran, people often ask me for the best gift ideas for Veterans. So many people want to learn ways to say thank you with more than just words. First of all, let me say this. Thank you for your consideration in trying to do this! Choosing to serve your country in the military is admirable and deserves gratitude. However, I and the vast majority of the Veterans I know feel that a simple “Thank you for your service!” is more than enough, and there is no need for you to provide us with a gift of any kind.

But, if that were an acceptable answer for you, you probably would not be reading this in the first place so, I will do my best to provide you with some of the best gift ideas for Veterans I can. To get more information or to purchase any of these items or see similar items, just click on the title or the pictures! Here goes nothing! Disclaimer: This is my personal Top 5 list; opinions may vary ;).  Note that as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases (at no cost to you).

5. Black Rifle Coffee

Black Rifle Coffee is one of many excellent Gift Ideas for Veterans!

Black Rifle Coffee. Not only is this coffee excellent, but the company is Veteran owned! Most Veterans love supporting other Veterans (go figure), and if your Veteran loves coffee as much as I do, this is a perfect gift!  And it tastes great when you make it in a Keurig K-Duo!

4. Coffee / Travel Mug

Coffee Cups made by Veterans for Veterans!

How about a Coffee Cup to put that jet fuel in? These are high-quality cups that keep your drinks hot for up to 6 hours (if it takes you that long to drink a cup of coffee) or cold for up to 24 hours! AND they actually fit in (most) cup holders; imagine that!

3. Challenge Coins.

Challenge Coins make great gifts and they're very affordable!

Challenge Coins. These specially designed coins represent many things—units, teams, organizations, etc. Often awarded to Servicemembers for various achievements and accomplishments, these make great gift ideas for Veterans, many of whom collect and cherish these coins.

2. Challenge Coin Display Case

This American Flag Challenge Coin Display is Awesome

Challenge Coin Display Case. I received mine as a gift several years ago. Created by Flags of Valor, another Veteran owned company that does fantastic work and always gives back! They have raised over $1.25 Million for Veteran and First Responder charities!

1. Grunt Style Gear.

Veterans love T-Shirts! They make great gift ideas

Grunt Style Gear. Backed with a ridiculously awesome lifetime “Beer Guarantee,” this gear is designed and made by U.S. Military Veterans. They have fantastic designs and products for everyone who loves freedom!

Conclusion

You may have noticed a theme on this list, or maybe you didn’t. Most of them are produced by Veteran owned and operated companies. This is part of what makes them some of the best gift ideas for Veterans. Not only will you and your Veteran love the product, but you will be supporting other Veterans at the same time! As I mentioned before, most of us love to support other Veterans, so this is the icing on the cake!

  1. My take on this is a little different from your own. Saying thank you to people who have contributed immensely to our great nature at the expense of their lives and family is worth it. You and other veterans deserve more than a verbal thank you. I will love the challenge coins, it is a representation of a lot and it speaks more

  2. Thanks for this interesting piece of information. I have some grand uncles who are veterans, not in the US Army though. I have never visited them before, I only speak with them on the phone since I have been a kid. I’m matured enough now to pay them a visit and would definitely go along with a gift. Reading this article has given me a enough range of gifts to choose from and I am so thrilled about it.

    • Thank you for your response Nelson!  I hope that you get the chance to visit your grand uncles soon!  I am sure that your visit would be more than enough of a gift for them!  If you do decide on one of my top 5 listed here, I am sure they will love your choice too!

I like the Challenge coin display. I think it can be used for other things as well. I found always very helpful to have list like that to help us to decide what gift to give to our loved ones. It’s not always and easy task. So thank you.

  10. Hi Tom,

I have been a member of USCCA for quite a while now. I have used their platform for training on firearm safety and researching concealed carry laws outside of my home state. I am glad to see you promote them!

I also support vets in a few different ways, this may be another way for me to help.

    Thanks for the opportunity here!

  11. Tom, thanks very much for your veteran gift ideas. I want to buy a gift for my grandfather from my mother’s side for the upcoming Christmas. Usually, we rarely give him gifts other than throwing a birthday and Christmas party. However, I can see how he likes Coffee Mug. He is an avid coffee drinker, so I’m sure he will like it very much. Thanks

To get gifts for veterans, from companies and brands that are owned by veterans, is an awesome idea. This is a great list to assist anybody that is looking for gifts for veterans.

  14. Hey Tom, thank you for this post. This is a great idea for honoring and thanking our veterans for all that they have done for our country. I love the ideas of coffee and mugs, because almost everyone drinks coffee and the design is excellent! We need more products and services like this to support our veterans. Thank you so much for this post!

    • Hi Walt!  Thanks for reading my article and for your response.  The coffee mugs are great!  They keep my coffee hot for as long as it takes for me to drink it!  One time, I made a cup of coffee and then had to go to a meeting before I could drink it.  I didn’t get back to my coffee for over 4 hours and it was still hot!  I have also used the mug for iced drinks and usually take a mug of ice water to bed with me because I wake up thirsty in the middle of the night.  The mugs never sweat and I always still have ice in the mug when I get up in the mornings.

  19. Hey Tom,

First off; On behalf of other Americans out there, I say a big thank you for all your service to this great Country, cannot thank you enough. Yes  these gifts look good, tho choices from this list seems a little bit limited. The Coffee Mug seems like something My Uncle would love. Getting him this for the festive season

    Reply
    • Hi Josh.  Thank you so much for your support!  Yes, this list is rather limited, but I did that intentionally.  When I am trying to find a gift for someone and I have dozens of things to choose from, it makes it that much more difficult for me to decide.  With this post, I tried to limit the selection to items that really stand out to me and that I use or look at on a daily basis and also provide a decent price range.  I totally understand that sometimes even coming up with $20 for a gift can be very challenging.  If you would like more gift ideas or ways to thank Veterans, let me know and I would be glad to help you out!

I have a veteran friend whose birthday is interestingly on Christmas day and he always throws a party but I never really know what to get for him because ontop of being a veteran he’s a little old who likes to travel. Thankfully, you have a couple of gift ideas that I think is perfect. The mug for example will be a very good pick for me to go for.

  25. These are some great gift ideas. I especially like the slogan on that cup: “Home of the Brave Because of the Few.” A short sentence that says a lot. The best is, of course, that these products are produced by veteran owned companies, so in a way you are also gifting the producer by buying the products. It ends up being a double gift. 🙂 As an army brat ( I was raised in the Belgian military stationed in Germany) I love these gifts!”

    • Hi Christine!  Thank you so much for your response.  During my time in the Army, I trained with Belgian forces several times (I was stationed in Italy for over two years) and I loved it!  I still have friends in Brussels!  Thanks again and I am glad you enjoyed them!

The challenge coin display case would be the perfect gift, wow! Not only does it show the American Flag as it’s something to be proud of when you’re protecting the nation, it can also serve as a reminder of what they’ve been fighting for and achievement to know that the country is safe thanks to them. Paired with the challenge coins, you just know how happy they’ll be 🙂
